For Fleet Operators
Manual diesel additive dosing exposes your fleet to four costs most operations don't put a dollar figure on. This page lays out what those costs look like, runs the math for your operation, and shows what rollout actually involves.
The Problem
Most fleets track additive cost. Few track what inconsistent dosing is actually costing them downstream. These are the four categories where the bill comes due — quietly, over time.
Manual dosing is inconsistent by definition. Driver-to-driver, shift-to-shift, jug-to-jug — your treat rate drifts. The pilot fleet was drifting around 1:3,000 before BLEND, but that figure hides the swing: some loads got more additive than they needed, some got less, very few got exactly what the chemistry calls for. The result is fuel that isn't being treated the way you're paying for it to be treated.
Every manual dose means a driver handling concentrated additive. Skin contact, inhalation, splash exposure, and SDS compliance burden — every load, every shift. One injury claim can cost more than the system itself. And chemical handling documentation requirements continue to expand year over year.
When a customer site reports a fuel quality issue — water intrusion, microbial growth, filter plugging — the question is always the same: what was actually dosed into that load? With manual workflows, the answer is a guess. With BLEND, every dose is visibly metered through a clear sight window and confirmed before dispensing. That visibility is the difference between a credit memo and a contract you don't lose.
Open containers spill. Spills mean cleanup costs, hazmat reporting, regulatory exposure, and customer-site relationships you don't always get back. Most fleets accept a baseline of minor spill events as the cost of doing business. BLEND removes the failure mode entirely — there's nothing to spill in a closed system.
Risk Exposure Estimator
This calculator estimates your fleet's annual exposure across the four risk categories above. It uses defensible industry assumptions — adjustable to your operation. The output is a planning estimate. A real fleet analysis works from your actual treat rates, customer agreements, and incident history.
Your Operation
All fields are adjustable.
Annualized Risk Exposure
What manual dosing is exposing your fleet to per year.
Total annual exposure
$0
Across 0 loads per year
How this is calculated. Wasted additive assumes 50% of your dosing variance results in overdose at your stated additive cost. Underdose exposure values undertreated fuel at $0.015/gal in downstream warranty/quality risk — a conservative industry estimate. Labor assumes 5 minutes saved per load with BLEND. Spill exposure multiplies your incident rate by your stated cost per event. Numbers are estimates for planning purposes; AlumiTank will work from your actual operational data in a formal fleet analysis.
The Solution
Pneumatic metering hits your target rate within tight tolerances on every recorded load. The pilot fleet went from 1:3,000 (drifting) to 1:1,000 (exact) across 350,000+ gallons.
Closed-system delivery removes hand-pouring from the workflow. Drivers don't open jugs, don't measure, don't pour. SDS exposure on additive handling drops to zero.
Every dose is metered visibly through a clear sight window before dispensing. When a question comes from a customer site, you have the visibility — by truck, by driver, by load.
There are no open containers in the BLEND workflow. The failure mode that produces spills doesn't exist in a closed pneumatic system.
Pilot Case Study, In Detail
BLEND was co-developed with a top-10 US convenience-store fuel retailer over a two-year engineering effort. Three pilot units ran across two shifts and four drivers. Five major system revisions were driven by direct driver and technician feedback. Engineering partnership with one of America's largest fuel trailer manufacturers throughout. Now in production — the pilot fleet has placed an initial fleet-wide order.
| Metric | Before BLEND™ | After BLEND™ |
|---|---|---|
| Treat rate | 1:3,000 — drifting load to load, driver to driver | 1:1,000 — hit target on every recorded load |
| Total volume | Variable, manual dosing | 350,000+ gallons across 135+ loads |
| Time per load | 5–10 minutes hand-pouring per load | 2–3 minutes — system runs while driver does other tasks |
| Spill incidents | Baseline manual workflow exposure | Zero reportable spill events across the entire pilot |
| Chemical handling | Every load, every shift | Zero direct contact |
| Per-load dosing record | Not visibly verified | Visibly metered through clear sight window |
What Rollout Looks Like
BLEND is a kit. Installation is straightforward — most trailers complete in 2-3 days. AlumiTank can install at your facility, your team can install in-house, or a certified service center can handle it. Here's how a typical rollout sequences.
We work from your actual fleet data — vehicle count, average loads, current treat rates, customer sites — to model expected impact and produce a configured quote. No commitment.
First batch of trailers installs at your facility with a 3-person AlumiTank crew on-site for installation and driver training. Typical week: arrive Tuesday, install Wednesday-Thursday, finish Friday.
Once the initial batch validates the workflow at your sites, remaining trailers are scheduled in additional batches. Larger fleets typically deploy in phased releases over several months.
Operator training videos, technical documentation, full driver training manual, and AlumiTank's support line — same number you've called for years. Replacement parts in stock. Standard 2-year warranty.
Use Your Existing Service Network
BLEND can be installed and serviced by the bulk fuel trailer service centers your fleet already trusts. Your trailers don't have to leave their normal service network.
Your fleet already has service centers you've vetted, trained your drivers around, and built into your maintenance schedule. We don't ask you to walk away from any of that.
AlumiTank certifies qualified bulk fuel trailer service centers on the BLEND installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and warranty support process. Once certified, the center can install BLEND on your trailers, perform ongoing maintenance, and handle warranty claims directly.
For multi-region fleets, this removes one of the biggest objections we hear about hardware retrofits: "We're not sending our trailers to Illinois." You don't have to. Your maintenance partners do the work. We back it.
Have a preferred service center? Tell us who you'd want trained, and we'll work with them on certification as part of your rollout planning.
Nominate a Service CenterPricing
Every fleet is different — vehicle count, trailer configurations, service center relationships, and rollout timing all shape the right pricing for your operation. We quote BLEND directly so the numbers reflect what you actually need, not a one-size-fits-all menu.
Single Unit Pricing
For evaluation orders, pilot programs, and fleets adding their first BLEND-equipped trailer.
Request a Quote →Bulk Fleet Pricing Best Value
Volume discounts on multi-unit orders, with pricing tiered by quantity and rollout schedule.
Request a Configured Quote →AlumiTank can dispatch an installation crew to your facility for hands-on installation and driver training. The fee is configured based on fleet size, trailer configuration, and travel logistics — quoted directly when we run your fleet analysis. Three-person crews are typical; rollout duration depends on the number of trailers in the batch. If your team would prefer to handle installation in-house, or use a certified service center (see above), we support both paths.
All units ship FOB Bigfoot, IL. Freight handled separately so fleets can use their existing carriers. Trailer-side modifications (if any) scoped during the fleet analysis. Additive itself is sourced from your existing supplier — BLEND is the delivery system.
Send us your fleet size, average loads per week, and current treat rate target. We'll come back within two business days with a configured analysis — what BLEND would change, what it wouldn't, and what the rollout would cost. No sales pressure, no commitment.
